FUN BOATING IDEAS
Here are a few suggestions for things to do while boating in the Finger Lakes.
PIZZA
by Boat
This is a great one if you have kids (or are a kid at heart). Give a call to a local pizzeria and arrange to have a pizza delivered to a public dock. Cruise to the dock and surprise the kids with an unexpected pizza party aboard. Make sure to cruise slowly while eating for safety, and also to keep everything from flying out of the boat. If something does happen to fly out, please return and pick it up. We appreciate your helping us to keep our beautiful lakes clean.

RAFT UP PARTY
Get together with your other boating friends for a floating picnic. Have everyone bring several dishes of food and tie up together in the center of the lake. Simply jump from boat to boat for a fun water "buffet". Try to coordinate the food so everyone doesn't bring the same thing. A variation on this is to make the event a themed event such as a tropical luau complete with tropical music.
RAFT UP PARTY
VACATION ON THE ERIE CANAL
Rent a canal boat and spend a few days being the captain as you and your family slowly cruise along the historic Erie Canal. There are hundreds of miles of canal and dozens of small towns just waiting to be discovered, as well as some pretty cool wildlife. The canal boats are fully equipped with everything you need to live aboard.
SENECA FALLS
ERIE CANAL CRUISE LINES Bring your camera as you rediscover the past aboard your Canal Cruiser. Vistas of natural beauty will pass slowly before your viewfinder – peaceful historic villages, changed very little this century, unfold as you round each bend. Travel down the Erie Canal and enjoy "Life in the Past Lane."

MACEDON
ERIE CANAL CRUISE LINES Erie Canal Adventures offers the best ways to experience all the Erie Canal has to offer. From weekly self piloted house boats to daily excursions to docking your boat at Erie Macedon Landing, there is something for everyone!

RENT A HOUSEBOAT
Spend your week in the Finger Lakes and never leave the water. There are several companies that have houseboats for rent. These come complete with full kitchens, bedrooms, wet bars, slides and many other fun items.
SCENIC BOAT CRUISES
The Finger Lakes has a very large selection of boat cruises that will allow you to fully appreciate the beauty of our fabulous lakes and canal system. The choices vary from schooner sailing vessels, paddle wheelers, large double decked boats, smaller power vessels and small pontoon style boats with all of them operated by registered captains.
LAKESIDE
FUN
A boat rental not in the travel budget, or maybe you are a bit uncomfortable on the water, no problem. There are a lot of things to do along our hundreds of miles of shoreline. Check out a few of our ideas below and let us know if you have any others.
PICNIC TIME
There is no better place to hold a family picnic or event then the Finger Lakes. We have a wide variety of parks that range from lakeside beaches to majestic waterfalls to deep canyons. There are many local restaurants that will be happy to prepare box lunches for you to make the day simple and easy. Click on the information bar below for picnic ideas and places.
"OLD SCHOOL" FUN
We here at EverythingFLX.com are amazed that some of the most fun things to do with kids have long been forgotten. In this world of electronic gaming and internet communication, the lost art of skipping rocks, capturing minnows and crawfish, finding "lucky stones" and collecting fossils are becoming lost arts. The best part of these old ideas is...they're free.
The Ol' FISHING HOLE (well, ... 11 actually)
There are plenty of places for you to drop a line along the shores of the lakes, and also in many of the local streams. Depending upon the season species such as Lake Trout, Landlock Salmon, Perch, Bass, Northern Pike and many pan fish can be caught. Check with local marinas concerning licensing requirements and rental equipment.
WALK ON WATER
Spend a few hours floating around the canal with either a kyak, canoe, paddle boat or, if your really adventurous, walk on water in a Waterball. These are the kind of memories the kids will have for a longtime after you leave the Finger Lakes.
